What to Know Before You Staff the Bay Area
The rules and realities that shape a Bay Area quote, so there are no surprises on the invoice.
Daily Overtime, Breaks and City Wages
California pays overtime by the day: time and a half after 8 hours and double time after 12, plus a rule for the seventh day in a row. Staff get a 30-minute meal break on shifts over 5 hours and a 10-minute rest break for every 4 hours. San Francisco and San Jose each set their own minimum wage, and San Francisco's covers temporary workers too. We build all of it into the quote.
Park, Convention Hall or Race Course
Bay Area programs can land in very different places: Outside Lands in Golden Gate Park, conventions at Moscone Center, San Francisco's largest convention complex, or race day in San Jose. Tell us where you're set up, and we'll plan call times, breaks and meeting points for that site.

Do you use local staff in the Bay Area?

How far ahead should we book for Outside Lands?
As early as you can. Festival weekend draws on the same experienced brand ambassadors, and the best people get booked first. Even on a short timeline, send the request. We respond to every quote within 48 hours.
Does California overtime change the quote?
Yes, more than in most states. California overtime starts after 8 hours in a day, with double time after 12, and staff are owed meal and rest breaks during the shift. San Francisco and San Jose also set their own minimum wages. We'll show how your shift lengths affect the rate in your quote.
Can you staff races and outdoor events outside San Francisco?
Yes. We staffed Heineken 0.0 at the Rock 'n' Roll San Jose Half Marathon in 2022. Tell us the location and the shape of the day, and we'll plan the team around early starts and outdoor conditions.
